Im kinda stuck as to how much to charge a company to advertise on my site. It will be a dedicated page just for their single product, kinda like a review page.

$100 - $200 per month, 1 year in advance? Should I charge more? Possible to lock in 3 year contract? Pages are the first 3 Google results.

Targeted pages get 3000 page views p/month and their product cost $400 dollars.

Any suggestions appreciated in projecting cost. Would rather not do cpc or cpm since they will be the only company advertising.

Step 1: Determine a ballpark figure of how many impressions a secondary page like that would receive on your site.

Step 2: Does this page provide them with a link to their money page? Factor this in too.

Step 3: Compare your anticipated traffic with the industry average CPM rates.

If there is a link back to their site, I would make a ballpark estimate at what the traffic is worth with the SEO link and page benefit tacked on and make an offer on the high side of those two numbers combined. There is absolutely nothing wrong with haggling with your client over this - if they accept the price immediately it is either very low or they are fools who do not enjoy bartering.

Thanks for the tips Vinbed, its hard to gauge this because its a niche site, not a high volume market like finance or health...people that go to my sites are highly targeted, already in the process of purchasing. Plus its the first google result for about 30 longtails...if theyre looking for something theyll hit my sites first. I have 10% of the market traffic so far, and its growing and growing as the customer base expands, its only a 3 month old niche.

Thanks

since they will be the only company advertising.

Why the only one? You can make more if another buyer is willing to pay more for the spot. Sell it for 3 months, get stats if possible then sell spot to highest bidder.

Offer the spot out surely? Test your market and see who's prepared to pay what? Or is this a niche consisting of only one player?

He said 3 months new niche, another 3 more months and there will be competition if there isn't already. Yeah you have to know what the spot is worth first.

I believe it will be more valuable if I offer them exclusivity, the benefit will be reduced if i have other competing companies on the site.

The market will be strong for atleast 10 years and I would like to develop good relationships with them since I have other related sites that they will also benefit from in the future.

These are large corporations Im dealing with and to get your foot in the door can be hard. I've been lucky enough to have communications straight with the Vice President at this specific company. Usually you have to deal with in house marketing departments, who really dont want to be out done by an outside webdeveloper and your solicitation to advertise never makes it to the decision makers.

Its a bit silly thinking of an actual price without even mentioning / thinking about the niche. 3000 views per month could earn some serious cash in lucrative businesses, and nothing for some others.
