Hey guys;

I'm just working on getting AdSense to mesh nicely into my site and I was looking for some help. Since google only allows a solid background colour I am trying to make it blend in a seamlessly as possible.

However, being colourblind doesn't help my efforts as I can't even really see the colour I'm trying to blend it with... So basically, does this look good?

Background blends well, yoink. Although if you want a higher CTR I would move it to the top of the page.

Thanks man. I literally can't see it but I was getting complaints earlier :(

I'm experimenting right now with Ads on CommunicateBetter. I'm trying to get about 250-500 uniques a day organically... yet it isn't even ranked in the top 20 of any search engine :(

I'm going to incorporate ads better once I've got traffic and a higher PR.

your title is in the wrong order
change it to Technical Communication: The Basics » Communicate Better » CommunicateBetter.Org

Yoink,

It does blend well and I can see the problem with google only having one solid background color, the page looks good, like suggested by pocketrockets you might get more clicks with the ads at the top but it almost might be worth keeping them both at the top and bottom, depending on how long the article is and how much control you have over your posts.

This is the kind of set-up I use, it seems to work quiet well.

Of course you don't have to include the Digg button or anything but blending it along side your content is good as well, I find that the ads at the bottom of the article should be how you've got it set up the 486x60 banner type works good.

I would say that the add doesn't blend all that well.... If you want a perfect way to blend the adds, even being color blind, do this:

Go to your website and press "print screen" - it's right next to F12 on my keyboard. Go into photoshop or dreamweaver and paste the picture. Then, use the eyedropper tool and click on the part of the website that you want an element of your ad text to look like. Copy the hex number next to the #digits that tell the software what color it is. Go into your adsense setup and paste this into the element for that color. Do this for every element and Wahlah, you've got it blended perfectly.

But, if you're color blind, just because it blends doesn't mean it looks good. If you ever want to know how it looks, feel free to come back and ask... I'd be glad to give you my 2 cents (whatever that's worth)

Sorry but this will not work, not trying to undermine you here or anything but have a re-look at his site.

First he has a nice flow from white to grey and since Adsence only allows you to have one solid background color going into photoshop and detailing all of the pixels would be a waste of time, all you really have to do is get the closest color which he did do.

The problem is with his background of the site, he could change it to be a solid white background and have only a touch of fading going on in the places that the adsence doesn't touch but other then that I think he matched it up the best he could.

Where the page turns white you can see the real color of the Adsence ad which isn't 100% but on the other side where it fades into the grey it blends perfect, kind of a 50 - 50 toss up on this one.

Actually you might almost be able to get away with an all white background with your ads the color fading does happen fairly far to that one side but I don't think you'll be able to make it, its worth a look anyway, just to see.

Don't even worry about it. It actually looks fine to me. Sure its not *perfect*.. but if there is one thing I've learned about making money online, being pretty is not only completely unimportant but often counter-productive.

ROFL, look at the top ad. Who the fuck wrote that ad - so fucked up. I went to the URL and it is such a shitty looking ladning page asking for your email address. And then this comforting little disclaimer:

'Trust Me" ...Because I HATE Spam just as much as you do;
I'll never rent, sell, loan, or even mention your email address
to anyone for any reason. You're safe with me!

WTF so ridiculous.

Hey man, I wouldn't be worried... he's literally handing his money to you :)

PS- someone clicked on an ad on my site and I got $0 for it... WTF?
