tldr; for those who design layout mockups in Photoshop, layers (and groups) can be automatically exported without having to make slices, copy/paste into new documents, etc.. Just rename the layer with some optional criteria (.jpg, .png8, .png24, quality settings, etc..) and PS will automatically save the files in a folder + update them when you update the layer(s).
though as one mentioned, in the example the guy used, everything he did can be achieved through CSS, but still relevant for larger mockups.
