Well I figured i'd make my first post something that might motivate some of the lesser earners to take action, because it's really possible to be successful in this industry if you just research, learn, and then try.

To start, I may as well mention that i'm only 18 and already i've begun to build an incredible profit starting from less than $100. Just to give people the basic idea, my daily revenue at the moment tops in at around $9,800 total with about $2,300 in ad spending. This of course, I plan to increase to at least $16,000/day soon enough. How did I do it? Hard work yes, and let me clear one thing up right away--there are no 'overnight riches'--but if I had applied to same amount of work to a job at my local supermarket or deli, I would be making less than $10/hour. It's important to have a strong understanding of the Affiliate Advertising industry but if you have that, know that you CAN make huge sums of money by working smarter, not harder. Unlike a per-hour job where you try to pass the time, you see a direct correlation with the time you spend researching, developing, and optimizing campaigns and your earnings.

A couple common misconceptions about the Affiliate Industry are that you need a lot of money to get started, or you need a site with a lot of traffic that can be monetized. The reality is, I began my first campaign on ClickBank back in October of 2007 promoting ringtones via Adwords PPC. Luckily, the landing page was well designed and I saw an initial (pre-optimization) ROI of 1:2 (actual check was for $124). Let me tell you, once I got the check, the first thing I wanted was to go out and spend the money on things I wanted. Make sure that you have a plan to (at least initially) re-invest the majority of what you earn back into your business--you will thank yourself in the long run. From there, I put more money into the campaign, continued optimizing, and wound up with nearly a 1:4 ROI. After that, I began to explore other possibilities, from the Weightloss Industry (with my own landing pages of course) to Payday Loans. The truth is that most any industry can be made profitable if you market it right. Even the most obscure terms get thousands of searches per day, and if you focus on developing a GOOD ad, you can convert these into leads and sales. 300 leads out of 1,000 clicks from a highly exclusive niche is better than 2,000 leads out of 20,000 clicks.

From there of course, it was smooth sailing, just find a good niche, create good ad copy and/or develop a quality landing page and from there you just optimize. Once you've achieved a great ROI, just scale the campaign up as much as possible. Don't be afraid to pay $2,000 in one day for PPC when you know that you will get at least $8,000. The fear of losing money is what holds a lot of people back initially.

The real reason i've been successful is that I was able to apply the basic principles over and over again to develop a multitude of profitable campaigns that (now) virtually run themselves (make sure to check up on campaigns regularly though). That, and the fact that I spend the majority of my days studying industry trends and listening to Affiliate Marketing podcasts--what can I say, searching for the ever elusive '$1 Million Campaign' is fun.

For anyone who doesn't have the time to read all that, i'll sum it up in a few short sentences: Don't be afraid to lose money. Do your research, don't expect to dominate the industry with a 'get rich quick' mindset. Stick with your convictions, then optimize until you turn a profit. If you follow this advice, you too can achieve $200,000+ monthly profit :)

Good luck to all.

Great post! This is why I come to WickedFire. If you read any eBooks or used any tools could you share those with us? Thanks!

What is the average commission on ringtones? I never understood how can you make money with affiliate marketing when I see conversion rates often quoted as 2%. If you spent only 0.10 on each click, then you would have to spend $5 to get one conversion? Do ringtones have a commission of $10 dollars?

Great post, do you do PPC mostly, or do you also venture into other areas of marketing the offers?

Ringtones on Clickbank...This is his first post...18 years old...He makes close to 3 million a year...hmmmmm.

But I hope it's true because that would be badass.

Wait... Why is this a good post? Okay great he's making $9800 / day... yes that's impressive (if true), BUT... ringtones on clickbank don't exist. And more importantly, all the very broad information he provides is common sense and if anyone is seriously not already doing everything he mentioned, then your campaigns have serious problems.

I mean, let's be honest "Don't be afraid to spend $2000 if it'll make you $8000 in return". ARE YOU FUGGIN SERIOUS??? Wait, I should really spend 2k to make 8k?? That is pure genius!!

Anyways, the ringtones on clickbank throw this post way off for me.

This advice is so DP-esque... I can't believe it's viewed as something good on WF: "Don't be afraid to lose money. Do your research, don't expect to dominate the industry with a 'get rich quick' mindset. Stick with your convictions, then optimize until you turn a profit. If you follow this advice, you too can achieve $200,000+ monthly profit" That's horrible.

No super affiliate spends their time listening to affiliate marketing podcasts...

First of all, my apologies, I wrote in ClickBank by accident, I actually used CommissionJunction. I interchange the two occasionally.

As for the avenues I pursue...mainly PPC, however I also am venturing into selling actual products myself.

About conversion rates...right now my best campaign (I have 13 currently running) has a CTR of 6.89% and a conversion rate of 12.2%.

Finally, to the guy who made the comment about the podcasts...my point is that I enjoy learning more about the possibilities from other top players. Since i'm stuck in school the majority of my day, I don't exactly have the luxury of reading the information online or from a book. Headphones are the only way I have of subtly tuning out the class.

Lastly, to anyone who doesn't believe me, I really don't care. I'm simply telling people what worked for me, because frankly i'm sick of people who complain that it's so hard to earn money and spend their entire lives stuck in a job they hate because they are too scared to venture out and try something new.
