A case of domain tasting?

So last night I went over to GoDaddy where I register all my domains. I am starting a photography site and was going to use my full name. It is not a very common name either. So I search for it in GoDaddy and it is obviously available as a .com.

So I sleep on it since my name is kind of long, and I'm not exactly sure yet if I want to use it. I go back today to register it and surprise surprise its gone!

WTF. How can this be possible? Is it a case of domain tasting? I'm kicking myself in the ass for not registering it, but this kind of shit really pisses me off. I'm not sure if I trust GoDaddy anymore.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Yes, it is being tasted. Don't visit the domain for 5 days and it will be available again.

How does this happen exactly? Is GoDaddy behind it or is a third party intercepting the searches done on godaddy?

A lot of people are doing it, so could be either.
