Niches oh Niches. Where art thou?

Truth is, there are plenty of niches out there. But of course, everyone is looking for those ELUSIVE niches that can help them to rake the money in.

There are so much potential niches out there that I dare say that there is actually something for everyone out there.

Good news is that there is a goldmine waiting for you out there.

The bad news?
Just like gold, you have to know where to dig.

Want to know an easy way to find those goldmine niches?

Ponder on this...

"A niche is only as valuable (to a marketer) as the demand behind it."

In other words, if you want to find valuable niches, you just got to where the crowd is.

Most of the time, we spend most of our valuable time looking for lesser known niches, or also known as ones with the lower competition.

Why?

We were led to believe to do so.

"IT'S IN OUR BEST INTEREST....." they say. Or is this their master scheme to divert potential competitors(threat) from milking their cash cow.

It's said that it'll be easier to profit by going after lesser-known niches.

But does it really?

Isn't it like people telling you to go look for water in the desert. Since there aren't many people looking for water in the desert so what you find is yours. But, isn't it silly to be doing that in the first place. I mean, ever wondered why aren't many people are doing the same?

Forget what they tell you about avoiding those hot niches. In fact, you should do the complete opposite and go after it as well.

There is a reason a hot niche is HOT

Because it is IN DEMAND, and when it is IN DEMAND, it means people are spending money on it, which means that is where all the money is!
When it comes to picking a niche you have to find that balance between passion and practicality.

OF course if you could a pick a niche that you have a passion for (and something you truly believe in) and is incidentally a highly sought after one, then by all means, GO FOR IT!

But should you go for a niche that you are passionate for but has virtually nobody interested in it then you gotta take a step back and rethink your plans.

The best thing here to do is to compromise on your part. You gotta stay practical at the same time to because at the end of the day, you are not marketing to yourself, you are marketing or catering to the other people out there.

If you can offer them something they won't mind parting their money for, then you are getting what you want in the end. Which is making people happy by giving them what they want (or need) and getting paid for doing so. It just doesn't get any better than that.

So you think you found a goldmine?

Sometimes when you do find a niche that has little or no competition, don't jump for joy just yet. You have to first find out why is there no competition in the first place.

Could it be because nobody is interested in that niche?
Chances are if there's no competition, there's no cash to be earned in that niche anyway.

Your marketing skills might be leet, but remember one thing, it doesn't mean squat if you picked the wrong niche to delve into in the beginning. That is how important it is to pick the right niche. Of course you can be one of those lucky few and be a pioneer in the yet-to-be-tapped niche.

I will even go as far as saying that your niche is far MORE important than the website that you are marketing your niche on.

Reason is?

If they aren't looking for something that your website is offering?
You can't expect people to find you when they aren't looking for you in the first place.

So exactly do you find out which niche is currently red-hot or in-demand?

GOOGLE TRENDS!
(Google Trends)

It's a great place to start looking and by all means, it's not the ONLY place to rely on.

There are many websites out there which can offer you a report of current search trends and if you find similarities between them then that's a clear indication on what people currently want. (And what you should be aiming for)

Very nice thread about niche you posted here. Niche is really most important factor in online business.

Thanks for the heads up about Google Trends. I have used AdWords with the Keyword tool & Traffic Estimator and for some reason just didnt notice the Trends part. Reminds me of top trends on Twitter!
