Here's a quick tip I have used successfully over the past few months...

Instead of searching all over for a GoDaddy coupon code, just google "domain names" and you'll find a GD advert for $6.95 domains. Just make sure you make your purchase directly from the ad. The auto-generated code is applied at checkout.

GD also offers free private registration if you purchase 3 or more names, so you might as well research a few you want before buying one at a time.

Hope this helps some of you!

But don't forget that the price for renewing will be around $18 (with privacy).

Neat tip, I was going to do this but decided to save a couple of $$ and go with 1&1... I'm Cheap :D

I have bought 5 .com domains at 4.95$ each today. these guys set the limit of 5 domains at this nice price - netfirms.com

How's Netfirms as a registrar? Easy to transfer out of? Do they have heinous TOS?

I would go with 1and1 but I heard it can be a bitch to transfer away from them.

Have not tried to transfer from them yet.

Good tip - I've got a few GoDaddy coupons on my blog:

cjcdeal695 does the $6.95 .coms
taketen is a nice one - gets ya 10% off everything (including the dirt cheap .infos)

Another tip - refer yourself to GoDaddy through CJ - gives you another dollar or so back (might wanna check their terms if you are doing loads though!)

Hi everyone.. I'm new to the forum and actually I just wanted to spend as much time as possible reading and familiarizing myself before I made a post, yet I can't just idly sit by when talk of 1&1 comes up. 1&1 is an awful, awful, awful registrar and host IMO. If you have domains registrared through them, which is registered by Schlund in Europe, it is extremely hard to get anything done unless you stay serviced with them. They are awful with their customer service and twice said they had refunded me my money when they hadn't. I spent about 3 weeks in emails back and forth to get my DNS changed by them and to get refunds for my cancelled service. I loathe 1&1. Currently I host with ehost.net which I bought for 9.95 a year on ebay. They work pretty well and have no limit to hard drive space, only thing is it's 5 GB of traffic a month. Which isn't really that bad, in fact it's lots of page visits. I spent time looking up hosting plans and most of the shared ones are just ridiculous and they say you can have so much traffic that you'll never have..anyways Yeah.. 1&1 sucks.. lol.. transfer away from them as a registrar as soon as you can =)

I have used the same godaddy code for domains and renewals for like 4 or 5 months now.
