I've had a pronounceable 4-letter .com domain since 2002, and the site itself has pretty much died over the past 5 years. Since it's really not bringing in much of any money now, I'm thinking of selling it.

What kind of value can I realistically expect for a 4-letter pronounceable .com name? This isn't some sort of name like "Zuqr" or "qilx" that some sellers claim to be "pronounceable" - This is actually an easy to pronounce name that could be realistically used to brand a website (and no, it's not johu.com).

Also, where would be the best place to sell the name? I made the mistake of going with GoDaddy for my last sale, and it just doesn't have the audience in my opinion. I'm thinking that SitePoint has the largest audience for this kind of thing.

Thanks!

Does it get a lot of type-in traffic?

Do the .net .org equivalents appear to be actively developed and maintained?

If so, I would offer to sell to the owners of those domains first.

The net and org are parked pages. There shouldn't be any type-in traffic, since it's not a real word (though it is the first name of a sportscaster somewhere).

For your sale, go with a domaining forum like Namepros or DNForum, not gome general webmaster mishmash forum where people have no idea about valuation of domains.

As was said above - the bestplace to advertise is DNForum, Namepros, also acorndomains.co.uk is pretty good.
It's very difficult to value a name though - could you let us know what it is?
