Hey guys,

I am looking at some domain names in my niche in the expiring domain auctions. I see couple legit sites however they only have 1 - 10 high PR links which my site will never get a link for by it self.

Thinking about getting those and 301 to my money site. I am looking to do this only 2 - 3 max domains so don't want to create any kind of footprint.

Is there usually a threshold before pulling the trigger or really depending the original site that linked to the expiring domain?

Cheers

I don't believe in all this 301 thing. Yes it works today but who knows when uncle G would decide to close the pipe. In any given moment.

Better build pumper sites on these domains. This is your real asset.

Thanks golan, been reading all the threads on building a big brand and totally get it that I need to build a site that will last since you never know what updates are coming down the pipeline.

I don't have a problem creating good content. The issue I have is I want to get traction in the short run until I have build out the site to a scale that I can pick up the easy pickings and decrease reliance on SEO.

The problem is I don't want to flag my money site until then, just checking the collective wisdom if its worth it going down this route.

301 redirecting is a bit unreliable, I've had varied success with it. Like Golan said, you'd be better of just using those domains as a pbn instead if you want more reliable results.
