Hi thought I would post here as not to get ripped to shit in the main bit lol.

What I want to do is 301 Redirect my Homepage ONLY, Due to advertising and lots of traffic typing in the domain. so say bluewigits.co.uk

Redirect that to blue-widgets.com but block the robots from crawling and indexing bluewigits.co.uk

and just re setting up blue-widgets.com/redwigits and in effect removing all the links pointing at my new site. (I dont need scrapebox links in my niche so might as well create some of the quality ones I had previously for the new site to rank well)

Fact is I only need the domain to re-direct from my offline marketing activities, and the occasional, click through from a few directories.

Could anyone answer me, 1) Would the penalty pass through the 301 redirect IF I blocked everything from crawling the old site?

2) Or would it work just as well not blocking the bots from knowing the old page is redirected to the new one?

Any help is appreciated.

I doubt any "noob" could answer this, I've noticed a lot of the WF'ers here love to rip on people. Maybe look at other forums and what people have done with 301'ing out of a penalty

Thanks, I thought moderators, or some of the senior members might pop in to give the noobs a hand and throw them a bone.

I see lots of 301 redirects but they are being used to juice up the main domain, some have been re-penalised in the update some havn't. Its only time before google read up and learn to pass the penalty through.

I just dont want to keep changing my offline marketing, to compare with my domains I have to keep changing. Not good for referral business if they cant find me.

redirect if referrer and/or useragent is known to the .com

redirect all other to a subdomain and match IP's for geo-location so you can make sure only .uk people are browsing.

That should do the trick and the bots should follow course.

I only need the home page the other pages people would only find me through google search anyway..

Isnt it just as easy to, 404 the first domain inner pages, keep the home page, 301 and block them robots from coming onto the site so they cant transfer or follow the 301 and just move my content.

New domain, safe, customers type in my old web address and find me, google bot none the wiser.

If anything on my site, its a keyword penalty on the domain, I cant rank no matter how much I try for any of my old keywords, internal 301s, create new pages with similar keywords, but if I do something unrelated to my subject lol I get indexed high in the SERPS and keyword stuffed for testing. :-/

Whether its the anchor text distribution or not, its the links that are killing me.
