12k uniques monthly..what's wrong?

I have a site getting 12k uniques monthly, but not making much money.
over 500k monthly page views, 13:03 time on site, 11% bounce rate

It's a dating site, but not porn. So my question is what monetization tips does anyone have because I think the site should be making some good money with this kind of traffic, but perhaps I'm wrong.

I'm current using adsense along with some friendfinder affiliate banners btw

Needs some work on the following areas -

Placement of adsense and affiliate links
Logo
placement of content
General Look and feel of the site.


To be frank you really could be making a lot more out of that traffic

Did you read a good book on making money with your blog and decide to do the opposite of everything it said to do?

None of that shit in the right hand column is going to make you any money, it doesn't matter how much traffic you get.

You need to put the adsense right in thier face, a medium or large rectangle at the beginning of each post with the post wrapping around it as well as a block immediately after the post would be much better.

You also need to work affiliate links into your copy, that block of flashing 125x125s is all but invisible to the average visitor. Work some affiliate-link-laden dating site/product/etc reviews/articles/posts in occasionally

Put up a resources page with affiliate links to dating related offers, link to and reference the page often.

And you need to start looking into direct ad sales.
