Flashy financier wannabe Martin Grunin, 23, says in a federal filing that the $1.4 claim against him for a fraudulent advertising scheme drove off his squeeze of nine years — and he deserves a break.

“Facebook has already damaged Martin Grunin’s business relationships, caused him financial hardships and a loss of a nine-year relationship with his girlfriend,” court papers said.

My guess is his base level will be around a 12 which is 10-16 months. He will probably add on another 8 points or so from enhancements on his PSR. He could be looking at around 33-41 month guideline range and the judge gives him the max.

Its all a shot in the dark until he pleads guilty. Whatever amount he is indicted for is meaningless it will all come down to what he pleads to.

They may very well indict him for some crazy amount just for the press it would generate. What really matters is the amount he ends up pleading guilty to. That will be the amount they use to generate his sentencing guideline.

Example:
Lets say they indict him for $2 Million which is probably much higher than will end up happening.
He pleads guilty to more than $400,000 but less than $1,000,000 in damages for a base level of 14.

Base Offense Level: 14
Acceptance of responsibility: -3(For pleading guilty in a timely manner)
Enhancements from PSR :+9

Guideline level of 20 which is 33-41 months for a first time offender.

He won't learn shit unless he actually admits he fucked up big time, and I doubt he will admit that. But you never know, when he takes it from the back, it might change his look on life.

When he is convicted the sentence will be enhanced because he continually shows zero fucking remorse and even still is trying to deny any culpability here.

Lesson here is if you're committing fraud and someone sues you, hire real lawyers and try to squash it outside of court.

If he is federally indicted I can guarantee you he will show remorse . No one fucks around with the federal court system. Their is a reason the feds have a 99% conviction rate. The risk vs reward for going to trial is non-existent. You could turn a 14 month plea bargain into a 20+ year sentence after a jury trial.

He will also most likely be appointed a CJA pool lawyer for his counsel. These are private lawyers who are at least competent enough to handle a plea agreement and are provided free of charge.

He'll get indicted, they'll throw 8 felonies against him... throw a huge range of 60-80 years possible time... everyone will tell him to plead because of the fed. conviction stat that you receited above but in Mawtin's mind he is INNOCENT... nothing can stop him. He's going to trial!!!

The good news is: you're ok. You never got caught by facebook, you never got sued, you are a successful options trader and make so much money even if you do get caught, you can settle with facebook for a cool million.
