Cyprus money OWNED; peasants rescued

What are all the tech companies in Ireland going to do? Ireland already had a bailout, so it's quite conceivable this could happen to them as well. I don't think companies like Google or Facebook would appreciate everything over $100k Euros in their Ireland accounts being indefinitely frozen / confiscated.

I could be wrong, but I would imagine there's a few board meetings happening these days that are bringing up this concern. Time will tell!

They no keep their money in Ireland or any other statist / fascist / socialist regime.

Yes they do. The entire reason so many tech companies setup shop in Ireland was due to financial incentives, such as low corporate income tax.

Being incorporated in a country does not mean that one has to hold a significant percentage of their monies in said country.

So... companies deliberately walk into double taxation? You smoking good reefer this morning, Matthius.

The profits don’t stay with the Dublin subsidiary, which reported pretax income of less than 1 percent of sales in 2008, according to Irish records. That’s largely because it paid $5.4 billion in royalties to Google Ireland Holdings, which has its “effective centre of management” in Bermuda, according to company filings.

[I'm specifically referring to bringing money into the US.]

So the country where every member of the Russian mafia deposits their money decides to freeze accounts... Anyone else see a problem with this?

Are we really having this discussion?

Why would a company like Google setup a corp in Ireland (plus build office, hire hundreds of people, etc.) with the intention of saving tax monies, then not put any money through the corp? That would be pretty stupid, wouldn't it?

I don't know, I'm not an accountant for Google or anything, but I'm quite confident they have alot more than $100k sitting in Irish bank accounts right now.

Russia is going to start seizing bank accounts owned by German and UK citizens / corps?

Matt and productionhead, I think mattseh is saying that an Irish corp may do their banking in another country, and almost certainly depending on where they feel it is advantageous and where their customers are. He is correct. For example, a sechylles company may exclusively use a corporate Hong Kong bank account. Corps don't come with bank accounts; thats a separate deal, and it does not imply double taxation.

Large corporations rely on techniques such as Double Irish arrangement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They are not holding their money in Ireland for long (this is different from putting money through the Irish corporation). Having a million be vulnerable is much better than having a billion be vulnerable.

I don't like your sentence structure, I am going to arbitrarily remove money from your accounts. Anyone else see a problem with this?

Why you no understand how this shit workz?

Sure, company registered in Ireland but place where pay royalties and licence fees registered in somewhere you no afford to go to and no pay tax.

Irish company break even because of offshore parent.

You so silly.

Wake the fuck up dude and I have no idea why I'm writing this in broken english.

You're thinking too small. The US/EU want Cyprus out of the way, this is how they do it. Any Russian money is a trickle down. They'll get friendly policies installed, and open up the oil access, and then a military base to protect US oil interests.

US isn't the player here, the EU is. The US within 5 years will be completely energy independent. The EU will collapse without Russian oil & gas.
