I have dedicated the last 1.5-2 months and 100s of hours of trying to break into affiliate marketing, i have setup a review website on weight loss products, i understand the basics pretty well like keyword research, keyword density, article marketing etc.. I have my wesbsite up with continuously adding new pages/product reviews.. but where to from here? i am so confused about back-linking, SEO or anything... i have outsourced articles and plan on outsourcing at least 20-30 new articles each week and have money to invest since i also work fulltime (not looking at adwords, dont want the google slap) .. I really just don't know where to go from here and no matter how much i research about bookmarking, linkwheels, blog comments.. i just have no idea what to do

Is there anybody that could possible break it down really simple for me?

Break what down? Links?

Well, you need them.

One place to start might be to find some high PR blogs that are dofollow
and read their posts and comment intelligently.

Trying googling 'dofollow' both on the web and images.

After a few weeks of that, you'll come up with more ideas of your own.

imo,

Yeah i guess im just stuck on links, like where do i post them? what do i google to find relative sites to sumbit links to about weight loss? and then where to from there? just more and more articles?

Great info DS, thanks for sharing.

Anyway, you can start with article submission. I am not sure what you planned with the articles you outsource, but I think some of the articles you get written should be submitted to article directories.

Dedicated 1-2 months?

If you start a business then generally speaking you don't expect to make money for a year or two. To become an expert at something, you supposedly have to spend at least 10,000 hours doing it, too.

"100's of hours / 1-2 months" is nothing. Keep building good websites, and watch Guerilla's webinars, try a few link packages, manual link building etc and investigate into every little thing you do. Look at every single page you build a link from, etc.. See what works, and what doesn't and keep at it.

In the end, when working for yourself, you spend a few years working like no one else would, so that you can spend the rest of your life living like no one else can.

Man, like mituozo said, 2 months are NOTHING... Even one year is nothing... Especially with recent changes with Google, which means no more buying links from bst for $10 and ranking MFA websites...

You are confused now, and you suffer from information overload... First you need to understand that you need time... Keep learning, reading and building sites and doing things... Then after some time things will become clear...

Start here:

http://www.wickedfire.com/newbie-questions/154692-newbies-guide-search-seo-101-a.html

Then watch guerillas webinars:

http://www.wickedfire.com/traffic-c...ild-backlinks-hand-part-ii-3.html#post1713101

and go from there, read other stickies in Wickedfire...

Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. I thought over it and you are all right 2 months is nothing. My plan I guess would be to just keep plugging away and outsourcing articles while slowly building new content/links. My site is a multi-review site with at least 10 different products, I am outsourcing articles heavily at the moment, would it be a waste to have at least 80-100 articles per product?

Depends on the products and type of site you're building.

If you're building an authority site, and are looking to bring in traffic from a ton of different avenues, then yes - building tons of articles on a permanent basis will help you build out your longtail, trust, brand and also make your site more interesting to visitors. I have authority sites which I hire multiple writers with industry experience fulltime, because the ROI is positive for doing so.

I have websites which 80-100 articles wouldn't generate a positive ROI in the slightest too though - perfect example is EMD's for very specific products.

How are you outsourcing the content incidentally? Are these good interesting articles, or $3/hr indian drivel? Again - the route you should take here depends on the level of site you're building.

I'm very much moving away from the thin, shitty content websites going for 1-3 keywords though, towards bigger websites looking to rank for many keywords, and many other traffic sources (such as social media, mobile apps & promoting things cleverly out in the 'real world').

I think that the thin EMD days are very much numbered, but they are a good way to get started in aff marketing [and perfect for using as your own private blog network later on to build links to your main authority sites, providing you're sensible and don't leave too much of a footprint ]. The principles you learn from ranking an EMD in a less competitive kw can then be translated and scaled up into more competitive niches for your "authority" sites later on. Heck, you may even want to pursue getting ranks for such an EMD even if it provides a negative ROI, just for the learning experience. (Not to mention the confidence boost of knowing you can actually get something to #1)

I have inspected all elements and have discovered your problem lies here:

Brassy, if your interest and passion is weight loss, stay the course. Less focus on fresh content, more focus on offsite marketing. Your site should be a BRANDABLE site. If it is, then create a facebook page for it, a twitter page, a youtube page. Spend your time building followers on these sites. Also, go watch the webinars posted above done by Guerilla to IMPLEMENT THE STRATEGIES (get some links).

After your link building, wait about 2 months.

If you build links to keywords like "weight loss" give it a year or ten to earn money. If you build links to longtail keywords "Losing weight in Miami Florida" or "Lose abdominal fat instantly" you'll see results much sooner.
