So sick of this shit with Ron Paul!

Cafferty was the only guy giving Ron any positive attention last time around. I actually like that guy.

Cafferty leans libertarian. He has never claimed it, but I've followed him a long time.

Incidentally, here's his latest post about Bachmann and Perry. I include it only because Paul's chances of winning the primaries depend on his stronger (positioned) opponents bouncing out. If the Daily Beast story mentioned by Cafferty gains momentum, both are done.

Perry is a non-issue anyway. I still think Romney's gonna be the guy.

I could actually see Ron Paul getting elected to office, getting everything done and turning things around. And then dems taking credit for it with talking points like "see, Obama knew what he was doing, his policies just took a while to kick in. Ron Paul inherited the success of Obama"

Isn't that what they did to Coolidge?

I have a feeling you are referring to pieces of a story told here:

The Freeman | Ideas On Liberty » The Depression You’ve Never Heard Of: 1920-1921 » Print

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. It's a good read either way. :)

To your point, yeah. It'd definitely be consistent with the Congress/POTUS.

From what I understand, Ron Paul is quite socially conservative.
it depends on your definition of social conservatism. If you mean he believes his personal, conservative beliefs should be the law of the land, then you understand incorrectly. If you mean he believes the government shouldn't have any say whatsoever what the private citizen does in his or her life, then you win teh prize.

Do you really all think that any sort of government spending is bad?
spin. some spending is appropriate and necessary as a natural function of government. He votes against unnecessary, unconstitutional, and wasteful spending, which are always accompanied by an increase in the size of government and infringement on liberty.

I think this is something that would concern everyone with any knowledge of economics.
i guess that depends on which school of economics you're a fan of lol

The world economy has tanked due to some dodge-fuckery on Wall Street.
which was enabled by congress. minor detail.

Should we really then say that spending must be cut massively, punishing those who had nothing to do with the crisis?
that's exactly what should be done :)

Right, so, where was I.. balanced budgets, in my opinion, are crazy in times of recession.
in fact they matter more in a recession. but again that depends on your economic school of choice.

The whole idea of going into deficit is to smooth out the boom/bust cycles that happen in every economy.
which are caused by....?

easy one. i promise.

You spend during the bad times to help prop things up, and you save during the good times so that when the bad comes, you have some deep pockets.
or you could live within your means all the time thereby avoiding the boom/bust cycle.

OH THE HUMANITY!!11

So, true libertarian style. Deregulate everything. That won't end in tears. No sir.
because regulation hasn't decreased rights, liberty, and freedom of choice at all. No sir.

Can't say I agree with him there
the beauty of ron paul - and something most can't get past - is that he can hold one viewpoint but not desire to push it on everyone else. Abortion is case in point. He believes it should be a state issue. If california wants it, have at it. His issue - like all of his issues - is with a trampling of the constitution on the topic. see 10th amendment

Chris Rock, Ron Paul and drugs. wow, I love RP even more now :P

written by a staffer who was fired. ron later apologized

That racist article only made me like Paul all the more.

I bet it would give Hellblazer a hardon.

I didn't see much there that was really rascist. Guess you can only call shit like out based on statistics if your black?

The part about being mugged and seeing how fleet footed they are -- well that was pushing it a bit :) even if you have the NFL / Baseball / NBA ratios to back it up.

I'd rather see him (or a whole lot more people) doing a Cosby and calling them out on just being men in general.

The more you listen to RP the more unfulfilling and child like everyone else in politics sounds

Its too bad fox news doesn't support Paul, he's the only person in politics that doesn't blindly follow party lines.

If libertarians ruled the world..

If we bought CNN or Fox and started putting the truth out there as hellblazer suggests, no one would watch and the station would go broke. People don't want the truth. You don't have to look far to know that it is true that people don't want the truth.

I disagree. It may be that people may want it when it's convenient. ( I go through days even weeks of unplugging and just focusing on me and mine instead of the world around me) but when I plug back in I want the honest situation.

Btw, notice I didn't say "Truth" There is no such thing as truth, as it is subjective. (Which I find deliciously ironic) But I at least want a entity that strives for objectivity. That's what true journalism is supposed to be.

The more I see of polls the more disturbed I get. I can't imagine 40 percent of my neighborhood voting for Romney....

If they are against Obama care for example - look at Romneys Record.

If they are for Obama care for example - look at Romneys Words.

If you want to look at his record - well here is what the folks who've had to live with him have to say:

Feb. 3, 2008: Boston Globe reports: Costs for Romney's health care to double! Federal government may be called for bailout.

Romney made a huge fortune in private equity. But (in at least one case) hundreds of workers lost jobs, and stockholders and creditors lost their money. Read the Ampad story, as reported in the Boston Globe last summer.

While Romney was governor, Massachusetts’ economic performance lagged near the bottom in the country. Northeastern University study, as reported in Boston Globe

Every. Single. Time. I hear the man speak it's so logical and come and ridiculously reasonable.

Well played on the truth point. You got me there. We tend to disagree, but I always find you to be quite intelligent, and I enjoy cyber talking to you.

Back on point, you admit he is the only candidate that is logical and reasonable.

Yet no one votes for him. So what does that tell you about American's hunger for, if not the truth; the most logical and reasonable perspective on reality?

And this is now. When the powers that be are showing their true colors. Even now people hardly vote for him. Before the crash, 9 out of 10 of current Ron Paul supports didn't believe in him. Gold standard? Ha, that was for nutcases. It took the reality of a fiat currency to hit people, for even a small percentage of the country to consider it. The banksters are printing money which dilutes the money in our pockets, in a way never done before, and only a small percentage even dare acknowledge it.

Look at the movies. How popular are retarded movies like batman, ironman, planet of the apes, captain America, or fast and furious. Now how many people saw an inside job?

There are none so blind as those that don't want to see.

People don't vote for him because the media/other candidates create a social stigma against him. The followers spread the words which spread to other people who just want to be accepted. It makes voting for ron paul seem like you are doing a bad thing. Its simply social manipulation.

Take the "Ron Paul is not electable" phrase that many people say. Its a phrase that was spread to discourage people from voting for him. It makes them feel like they are wasting a vote. It makes people seem stupid for wasting a vote. Because of this, they simply vote for the best bad choice.

The free thinkers will vote for who they want, the sheep will vote for who is acceptable to others.

Do research, read, read and read some more. Then make your choice. Close your ears when other people talk, vote for who you really want.

Nah, we are humans. We have free will. You can't just say 'they are sheep, it isn't their fault'.

Because in that case, you could say that about the rapist (his mom beat him), the killer (his dad tortured him), or any other bad act. Just justify it through 'well, it wasn't their fault, they are a product of their environment arguments'

It isn't the media. It is them. They don't want reasonable, logical candidates, which is why they vote against them.

They might have adverse environmental conditions that push them into bad decisions. But they are responsible none the less for their actions, and what their actions amount to.
