So sick of this shit with Ron Paul!

The more I hear RP the less I like him. I guess I am an idiot. In the clip above he stumbles on the one question that cuts to the chase - can he get anything done. The answer is obivously, no.

He is a sound bite specialist - when asked about the US Southern Border he invokes Iraq & Afghganistan - nice sound bit but with zero substance.

He does not believe in entitlements for immigrants - does he believe in a safety net at all? Or does he believe in nothing for anyone?

He thinks there is a moral equivalent between the Soviets, The US, and Iran? The Iranian leadership openly advocate the use of nukes against Israel - is anyone else doing that? No - makes RP sound like an idiot.

RP wants civilian trials for terrorists and then equivocates that to how actual citizens are treated? Those are two different issues. How about citizens are treated one way and terrorists another - if a terrorist is a citizen then treat him like a citizen with the same rights - but that is not what RP said.

Once again , he mentioned iran is a threat due to a few militants? How about it's a threat due to the leaders? big difference that RP seems to not understand.

He thinks the Fed creates business cycles? Maybe, but maybe not, but where is the proof of that? The fed should be smoothing out business cycles which are a natural result of capitalism - maybe the Fed does not always do its job - but unfettered capitalism is not the answer either

Still - he wants the Gold standard - the Gold standard restricts growth and hurts the poor. Period.

The more I learn - the more there is to dislike.

They're into true libertarianism, they are into constitutionalism, they're rediscovering the laws and the systems and civilization that defeats tyrants. they're discovering the shield that allows people to live and to grow and be prosperous."

He's the lesser of the evils, as it always is with politicians

so funny that I'm reading more about him on swiss and german mainstream media than on the typical suspects in the US

Uh, wut?

It's like you are making random shit up as you go along.

He's commenting on the highlight clip posted above. Those are the highlight topics.

All of these tech/web-savvy people around these parts, and big money in some cases, you'd figure we could start influencing the media ourselves in one way or another

That's what I was wondering - does WF really like the guy or is it, like you said, simply he is the lesser of evils.

The comments stand on their own - I could've numbered them if that would help - but really it was my notes while watching the YouTube video above.

Thanks About - I saw your post after making mine.

Don't get him started, Will!

REI: You just don't get it because you're looking for perfection.

We're no where near that level. Not even close.

We're basically deciding between chocolate and vanilla flavors of the continued Tyranny. (No racial puns intended.)

Paul gives us a 3rd option; Fuck tyranny.

Is he perfect? No. But he's anti-tyranny and that's something we haven't seen since the day JFK got shot. Almost a half century.

All your arguments do is say: "Nevermind that freedom trap; let's just continue with the Vanilla Tyranny this year because I like the taste of it a bit better than the chocolate tyranny we've had lately."

I'd be mad at you over this if I thought there was a chance for Paul to get elected without being assassinated.

I didn't watch this sound clip, but I usually hear him say that the federal government is responsible for defending national borders, and the best way to do it would be to take troops currently stationed overseas and put them on the borders. That is hardly a no substance answer.

He does not believe in entitlements for immigrants - does he believe in a safety net at all? Or does he believe in nothing for anyone?
He believes the federal government should not be involved at all, but he also suggest that it would be inhumane to suddenly take people off of a service that they have grown to expect. Instead he suggests letting young people slowly start to opt out of the system, so they can save their own money and not get entangled in the system.
He thinks there is a moral equivalent between the Soviets, The US, and Iran? The Iranian leadership openly advocate the use of nukes against Israel - is anyone else doing that? No - makes RP sound like an idiot.

RP makes a few points on Iran:

1) The hardliners are loosing power already. Eventually they will be replaced without ever having to fight them.
2) The Israelis have over 300 nukes. They could turn most of the middle east into a radioactive wasteland if they wanted. Taking out Iran would be about as hard as farting.
3) The Israelis can bomb Iran's processing facilities if they want. They have a strong air force. They took out Saddam's nuclear capabilities in the 80s. Ron Paul supported them when they did.
4) The Iranians are not suicidal. They don't want their entire country being turned into a fireball.

RP wants civilian trials for terrorists and then equivocates that to how actual citizens are treated? Those are two different issues. How about citizens are treated one way and terrorists another - if a terrorist is a citizen then treat him like a citizen with the same rights - but that is not what RP said.
Who decides who a terrorist is? Are the Anonymous guys who ddos paypal and mastercard terrorists? is Bradley Manning a terrorist? Is Jullian Assange a terrorist? Ron Paul's point is the courts have to decide who is and is not a terrorist. That is to much power to put into the hands of the executive.

Once again , he mentioned iran is a threat due to a few militants? How about it's a threat due to the leaders? big difference that RP seems to not understand.
Stalin was far worse than any Iranian leader ever. The soviets were responsible for something like 50 million deaths. If we can negotiate with them, then sitting down at a table with Ahmadinejad shouldn't be a problem.

The fed doesn't do this because it is controlled by people who blow in the winds of political expedience. When the government wants money the fed gives it to them. When low interest rates are called for the fed gives them. If you have some idea of what besides unfettered capitalism would do a good job please explain it.

Still - he wants the Gold standard - the Gold standard restricts growth and hurts the poor. Period.
Please explain how gold restricts growth. I have heard some arguments like this, but I don't want to put up a straw man version of your argument only to knock it down. I would rather wait for the real thing. :pimp:

Its pretty obvious there's a Ron Paul media block out. Its sickening.
Almost like PRAVDA all over again. Welcome to the USSR ladies and gents.

Wow there's a lot of traction on this media blackout... Look what happens in Goog when you start typing Ron Paul and Media:

Some of those results are awesome, too. I like the liveleak video where someone asked Romney what he thinks of the "Ron Paul Media Blackout." Ballsey.

OMG I'm agreeing with Rusky!

There's way too much of that going on in here. Someone bring hellblazer back in to kill the warm and fuzzies.

Who is your ideal candidate at the moment?

I'm so glad to see that Ron Paul is finally getting some teeth. He's biting back, arguing with the moderators, flat out telling other candidates that they're wrong, etc...
