Silk Road and Bitcoins - Buy drugs online?

The Currency That's Up 200,000% - SmartMoney.com

The other ways to get Bitcoins involve trading goods, services or cash. Mt. Gox has emerged as the largest Bitcoin exchange, charging 0.65% per transaction to match up buyers and sellers. More than $500,000 worth of the coins changed hands in a recent 24-hour period. Traders can add funds to their accounts using cash, checks, bank wires or Liberty Reserve, a private online payment service.

Any fiat currency -- dollars, euros, Bitcoins -- gets its value from trust. Dollars can't be cashed in for anything; rather, we accept them as payment with the belief that others will accept them, too. That's another reason the price of Bitcoins has rocketed over the past year. Two years ago, almost no one accepted them for payment. Over the past year, a handful of early adopters began trading services for them -- mostly programmers offering things like website design and hacking consultation. In recent months, a handful of pioneers have begun selling real goods for the start-up money.

Absolute insanity. The going rate for these bitcoins is now $31. The values have tripled since the beginning of this thread. Anyone get on the bandwagon?

Funny story, I was playing a online game when the developer came in game and wanted help testing his bitcoin casino. I got some free bitcoins (like 5) and went into the casino and won 250 total.

I have made out about 4K in selling them over the last few weeks, so I informed my wife it was worth the time after all playing that game ;)

I got some for ~$20.

Sure, the price of BTC has grown in value compared to the dollar, but the relative cost of the stuff for sale on SR has stayed the same.

At the FOAF - he wasn't planning to even split it with friends or anything? if he was, that then becomes supply, legally. If he wasn't, he was planning to take 25 pills over the course of 3 days? That's over 8 pills a day... O.o I'll be honest, if I was a judge, I wouldn't hesitate in putting that down as supply.

Nope... it was purely personal.

8-a-day on a major festival isn't that much. Good ones are like smarties once you get going, and allow for tolerence.

(not that I'd know anything about that, of course, officer)

Maybe it would have been fairer if the judge had allowed him to take them all over the course of 3 days to prove they were just for him.

Was reading on another site that they'll go for possession-with-intent in some constabularies at more than 2. It seems like the entire situation has gotten considerably more fascist since my clubbing heyday 10 years ago. :(

Wow. and really? O.o It'd be better for you overall though not to binge that much on MDMA, bad for your brain & tolerance. The good thing about powder, though, is you can get away with more. i.e. some people take half a gram as a single dose - then you could reasonably prove in a court that a gram or two was all gonna be personal, plus you could say that you assumed it'd be cut. I'd imagine that courts would probably assume 1 pill = 1 dose.

Yeah, MDMA is one thing they've really blown up about in the last few years, mainly cause of all the dickheads putting ket etc in their pills, and all the people who take too much and don't drink enough.

Btw, have you ever been to glastonbury, out of interest?

Anyone know what exactly the program is solving?

I'm guessing its spamming or hacking into something?

shit mane i missed the bus.. silk road went into current members only mode

i guessed my way into someones acct though LOL

wow, interesting. Looks like you have to log in to browse now. It's funny. The site will surely change locations, but it will never die. Politicians and DEA can't stop this shit. For it or against it, unless the internet goes away bitcoins and SR are here for good.

No it's not spamming or hacking it's solving mathematical equations
Similar to trying to figure out if a number is prime, there's no need for the equations to be solved it's just a method for the bitcoins to be distributed fairly and establishes a base value for the currency based on the amount of cpu time and electricity costs accrued to generate it.

So why not just set up a cloud network of windows VPSs to run 24/7?

Also... How does one cash out their bitcoins for the kind of coins that fit in stripper's bootyholes?

What do you mean no need to be solved? Isn't it the way it actually processes transactions? Here is a transaction log for the block - Block 129505 - Bitcoin Block Explorer
for instance.
