If there is anyone I can think of off the top of my head that SHOULD be looking forward to heaven it's Stephen Hawking.

Imagine the hell the man has gone through for most of his life - and while I'm not saying he is the smartest physicist out there he is one of the better known.

So there you go. If you believe in black holes because of him, you can no longer believe in heaven.

If hawking says it then..

Yeah there probably is no afterlife.

Yeah it's hard to believe a God created the universe for us... if he did he went a bit overboard.

This is a picture taken by hubble of a piece of the night sky about the size of a spec of dust to us. Nearly every point of light in the picture is not just a single star but a freakin' GALAXY of hundreds of billions of stars.. do the math. We're so insignificant it's incomprehensible...

I kind of hate how everyone says we are "insignificant". Sure, in the large scope of things, we are tiny. Who's to say that humans aren't responsible for discovering these galaxies in the future? Maybe WE are the aliens with the best technology. Maybe WE are the "Gods" who one day will be able to create life. Is it likely? Maybe not. Is it possible? Definitely. The potential is there. First step: determining that these galaxies even exist. Check.

From IMDB

"In his early work, Hawking spoke of "God" in a metaphorical sense, such as in A Brief History of Time: "If we discover a complete theory, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason — for then we should know the mind of God."

I think he has probably always been an atheist, but he was more coy about it earlier.

Personally I think the answers for this kind of question are within. But I'm all for spending money on telescopes at the same time.

It's interesting, he believes it is theoretically possible for time travelers from another universe to come here and take him off to explore multiple universes and time periods, because he has numbers that say it could happen. But until consciousness can be quantified with numbers, he won't consider the idea that it could be transferred out of the physical body.

My thoughts exactly. Thanks for encapsulating them so nicely.

I think this is a good rule of thumb. Why make up stories when you can't support it? I'm sure the man doesn't have a problem with fairytales as long as we understand that they are just that until proven otherwise.

Stephen Hawking is over-rated, like most mainstream scientists. He follows the religion of science while others follow the religion of their liking. Boxing yourself into any belief system is limiting and all these "scientific" dipshits do exactly that. If people want to follow these scientific weaklings that are too intellectually lightweight to interpolate correct results from the data at hand then that is their choosing. Just remember what happens when you listen to your stock broker.

It's not that I care whether or not heaven or hell exists. It's just that I understand that energy can not be destroyed from being disembodied. One day this will be as well established as the world being round is. All truth goes through 3 stages and right now the "scientific" (AKA dipshit community that can measure things all day long but not reach accurate, coherant conclusions) sheep are being what they're raised to be. Being a scientist doesn't make you special. Being right does. And being a scientist doesn't make you right. Being a non-scientist doesn't make you wrong. Being right makes you right and I'm sick of these scientific dipshits getting credit when they are clearly wrong. Just like the dipshits of 500 years ago touting how the world was flat when the real thinkers -- not the intellectually shallow scientists of this day -- always knew it was round. Way to go guys. Everyday it becomes more and more clear why most people are poor.

Hey guy try reading the next few words in the quote huh
"There is no heaven of afterlife for broken down computers"

Also you fail at logic.

Explain yourself young man.

A man went to a barber shop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.
As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of... God, the barber said:
'I don't believe that God exists.'
'Why do you say that?' asked the customer .
'Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist.
Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children?
If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain.
I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.'
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.
The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.
Just after he left the barber shop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard.
He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber :
'You know what? Barbers do not exist.'
'How can you say that?' asked the surprised barber. 'I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!'
'No!' the customer exclaimed. 'Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.'
'Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me.'
'Exactly!' affirmed the customer . 'That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! That's what happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help.
That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world.'

Hawkings definitely doesn't 'box himself' into a belief system. He has in the past been open to the possibility of heaven and has in the past modified his beliefs when he sees new evidence that either goes against his current belief or definitely supports a counter belief.

What? Bahahaha.

That barber logic is lame.
Babies born with illnesses, dying children, born handicaps and retards have no choice.
They were never given the option to choose. Life isn't always fair, eh?
