BEIJING (Reuters) - A Chinese court sentenced the founder of the country's largest pornography Web site to life imprisonment on Wednesday and jailed another eight of the site's organizers, state media reported.

Chen founded "Pornographic Summer" in 2004 and went on to start three more pornography Web sites, making money by charging registration fees of $25 to $33 to some of the 600,000 members they attracted.

Don't count on getting paid your affiliate checks from his account :P
 


You'd think with that minimum of $15 million that he made he would MOVE out of China instead. What a dope.

Anyway, this is what Wikipedia has to say (I am kind of bored heh):

"Israel: Legal, pornography in all its form can be found in any video rental shop (including video vending machines), and there are Israeli stores that specialize in pornography, as well as several companies that produce Israeli porn. In the past years hardcore pornography was broadcasted on Pay Per View television but it's currently illegal and only softcore porn allowed on TV."

Its a grey area in the US too. If you live in the wrong county, you might be one news story away from jail.

Yep, this is absolutely true. Trouble is I have yet to see anyone convert their Chinese traffic into something golden like $15M. But, I have been out of the loop for a few years now, so maybe things have changed.

i live in a county in florida, where anything other than soft core porn is illegal to be sold or produced.
in the next county south of me it is ok.

a chic i know who had a porn site @ freakykitty.com got shut down once the county found out she was doing her shoots & layouts here.

I guess if it's lucrative... but is it really worth jail time?? How much time do they do - anyone know? If it's like a slap on the wrist and a fine, well then I can see that. But if it's like a year - no thanks!!
