This probably signals close to the end for Mr. Yang, obviosuly stock holders don't agree that this actually helps. Got to give it to him for making such a bold move to spite Microsoft.

This may be true. Yahoo and Google have teamed up and Microsoft has been left to the corner. MS has to make some bold moves to recover from those bad ratings.

So if Google starts showing ads on Yahoo, would we actually have the option to choose where to advertise ?
 
Yahoo! has got to be the dumbest fucking company in the tech sector right now. Seriously, how do you destroy such a promising company this fast? They really need to dump Yang and that board as quickly as possible.
 
I've been advertising with them from the beginning, since the early days of Overture... and it's been truely amazing to watch them completely fuck up their ppc business so effectively.. with each passing day they somehow manage to add more shit to the stinking pile
 
I don't know if the gov't will allow this deal to go through. Google already has a fucking monopoly, adding this inventory is going to be hell for advertisers.

If you think they are going to increase the prices then thats not going to happen. Businesss is too good at the moment. If they increased the prices, the whole ppc industry would slow down and in the end they have to lower the prices anyway.
 
There are a ton of clauses in the agreement that will prevent it from being stopped by anti-trust filters.

Also interesting to note:
  • Google will receive a $250 million dollar termination fee of the contract if Yahoo is puchases by another company
  • ...unless that company is Microsoft.. then that $250 million is waived.
Also, Google can terminate the contract if they don't earn $83,333,333 on a 12 month rolling scale or some shit like that.

The deal is non-exclusive, so Yahoo can show their ads and google ads whenever/wherever as long as they help Google make that much money.

This is possible since they were in a little trouble from the FBI a few months ago when they ran there 3 day test displaying ads on the Yahoo search network, however Google stated that they did contact the correct legal agencies about it before hand but still I wouldn't doubt if they gov is watching the deal closely.
 
i dont know about you guys but personally, i wouldnt use yahoo if i can avoid it at all. they are just getting worse by the day, google is going to use them for a little while but then realize that they aren't going to help as much as hoped for and dump them (hopefully). I think this taints google a little bit by even allowing themselves to be associated with those shmucks.
