Just a hypothetical. If you had cancer, how would you go about it?

a) Do the hospital routine, going through chemo, constantly puking during the small time you're awake and in pain, costing you tens or hundreds of thousands, and taking months or years, while putting your loved ones in agony and despair. At the end, it's a "maybe" if it works.

b) Say fuck it, keep it to yourself, live the best you can while you're healthy, then do what's necessary to pass away peacefully when the time comes?

c) Give the good ole' alternative methods a try (herbs, crystals, etc.)

d) Other.

Which would you choose?

I'd be sensible about it and seek out the relevant treatment. If / When the cancer metastesized and spread to everywhere else and I had basically a set amount of time left I'd say fuck it and make sure I did everything that I wanted to do before I part the world.

I would certainly not be going down the 'alternative treatment' route.

(source: My best friend and brother is dying from cancer that has done just this.)

The right answer is always - go to hospital as fast as possible and hope your cancer is one of them which can be today cured with a higher chance.

There was never ever an alternative cure. Never. They all died like flies in the past.
That people try them is only because some of the way to fight the cancer are extrem and heavy.
But they give you a chance. If you really like to try something alternative - go in a church and pray.
Thats the best alternative.

Some cancers which was letal not 10 years ago are today pretty good to heal.
For all cancers the key is to fight them as early as possible.

If your black skin cancer already spread you are with a high chance dead and its a horrible way to die.
Thats how my father died. In his last weeks you was able to see the cancer grow out of of the operation cuts
where they removed them days ago.

Yeah...

You know what we call alternative medicine that has been proven to work?
That's right - we call it medicine.

BS, his treatment (well, dietary regimen actually) had nothing to do with curing cancer. In fact, it made it worse!
Eating fruits and veggies won't cure cancer, that's it.

He was a great guy and businessman, but he knew squat about nutrition and human biochemistry (and so his nutrition "experts").

That's the biggest pain actually. When you realize that money won't do anything to help you. Sure, you can have a bit better dying time (in better room, with a nice view..), but still you are going to die. Your money is going to help only one person (and his family, not yours) your doctor!!! :laughing-smiley-007

Go home and don't spread that shit around... Normally I would ask you to tell us from where your OPINION comes from... but at this time I will tell you to go there to educate your ass... at least a bit.

No. What we call alternative medicine these days, is in fact a real MEDICINE. What we call a Medicine (academic medicine), is a huge pile of stinky $.

Wake the fuck up!

And you call yourself marketers?! :laughing-smiley-007

First off all I would take it easily (or at least try to...). Cancer is not a sentence. It's just a disease like many others.

Answer A is not an option unless it's a brain tumor that can be treated with radiation. Chemo is no no to me in ALL cases (it could kill you faster than cancer). Some people are strong enough to undergo chemo and get benefits out of it (at least short term).

I would do C and D and fuck the rest. Even if I knew A is 100% effective, knowing myself I would not go that way because no motherfucker will make a living of my pain (that kind of pain).

And what exactly needs education, faggot? If you have something to say or a different OPINION then say it and tell us what the deal is.

Perhaps some 100% alternative ways to cure cancer - right from the Dr. Oz shop? Perhaps it is better to wait before you go to the doctor - what not hurt can't kill you? Perhaps a cancer therapy is not hard but fun? Perhaps they can't cure more cancer today and they faked the data?

If you think facts of life are opinions then go and play with other fucks thinking the same Creation Museum - Creation, Evolution, Science, Dinosaurs, Family, Christian Worldview | Creation Museum

That thing in your skull.

Well, if I could dump all that shit at your thin neck, you would be dead duck. And I'm not going to tell you what the deal is because of the same reason I don't promote specific alternative treatments.

No one told me more that I'm telling you now. If you are interested in alternative medicine, you will dig deep and eventually find your knowledge.

Option A, probably supplemented with some weed for pain and the vague chance it may help with the cancer (don't understand the people who take it on its own to cure their cancer despite no clinical testing). Maybe fly to another country to get an Oncolytic virus injection (although I haven't done enough research on that, and the most prominent one, from either Lithuania/Latvia seems to be lacking in clinical trials that people can actually read) or a treatment that's considered too expensive/in early stages for the market here. As to when treatment just becomes life prolonging rather than curative, that depends. Cancer can always come back, so you could say that's always the case. It depends how much it would prolong life, and what percentage of that life would be spent in a hospital bed.

RE andrewkar, what treatments were you thinking of exactly?

That thing in your skull.

...Chemo is no no to me in ALL cases... (and some more shit)

You sir, are just a stupid dibshit.

The worst is, that shitholes like you have the irresistible urge to tell people with cancer how much better they understood the world as others.

I respect every child molester more as people like you.

No one told me more that I'm telling you now. If you are interested in alternative medicine, you will dig deep and eventually find your knowledge.

Exactly because that.
Oh... you KNOW something. Of course you can't exactly say what.
Because its just incredible stupid we do not know it and its under your level of education nad majesty just
to say something THAT trivial. No, if you we can't see THAT trivial then you can't help it.

Grunin is gold compared to that pile of shit you call your brain.

It's all very well talking hypotheticals but until you are actually faced with a situation it's impossible to tell how you will react.

My father passed away from cancer last year, and randomly a few months before the diagnosis we actually had this EXACT conversation. Both of us agreed that the best course of action would depend on whether the chemo/treatment was potentially curative, or just prolonging your life, opting to take treatment in the first situation and reject it in the latter.. Not three months later and he was presented with the choice between chemo or palliative care & opted for the chemo.. :/

Thing is, us humans are survivors by nature and it's our instinct to cling to whatever hope there is. In hindsight it was definitely a bad call in his case (pancreas.) Lots of complications and he spent his last few months sick as a dog.

Anyway, I digress. Whilst I stand by my opinion that it depends on the potential outcome - option A with a bit of option C - every time.

One thing for certain is that I would not be a fucking Luddite and reject modern medicine. Look at how well that panned out for Steve Jobs..

My roommate of 6+ years has lung cancer - he had the primary tumor removed along with half his lung. It has metastasized into his brain (1 brain operation in May and another 2 weeks ago to remove lesions) and his adrenal glands (that's above the kidney).

He has very little family to speak of (in the UK) so it's fallen upon me and my cousin (and some good friends, too - all of us effectively being his family now) to take charge of him.

We put on a benefit for him June 1 at the Bowery Ballroom:

Bands rally for fellow rocker fighting cancer | New York Post

He is still recovering from 2nd brain operation, doing physical rehab in the hospital. When he's well enough he'll do 2-5 weeks (not really sure about that number) of radiation for remaining cancer in the brain.

Big fucking bummer. Hopefully he'll be well enough by aug/sept, because we want to take the QE2 from NY to London and have a benefit for him there. Dudes from Oasis, Paul Weller, and other rock people will get involved. It depends on his health and desire to do this - and it's fun to discuss while prepping for Scotty's return home from his second operation. (Gutted my bedroom and now it doubles as a guestroom for visitors and med staff, if need be in upcoming months.)

I just want to see him live his days in high style. Speaking of, I don't smoke pot and never gave the medical marijuana douches (food, fuel, fiber!) any serious mind - BUT, when things were really bad I would drop a THC crystal cube in Scotty's Gatorade - and the tension would leave his face, he would enjoy music (he was preferring quiet and dark rooms) and company.

And andrewkar, this: ""Even if I knew A is 100% effective, knowing myself I would not go that way because no motherfucker will make a living of my pain (that kind of pain)."" is nonsense. Having this disease is far more serious than having a social stance. I've witnessed this firsthand.
