Bluehost and Hostgator Down All Morning

Almost 3 hours already.

For my biggest niche, I usually pull in more money on Friday mornings than any other time. So this is fucking fantastic.

What is a better alternative? I've been getting kind of fed up with Hostgator lately. My sites have been lagging badly since they "upgraded their servers" at random times and they tell me it all looks good when I call to complain.

All my sites are down. I woke up extra early to get some much needed work done.

This is bullshit.

I've always loved hostgator, but if this shit continues regularly, it's curtains. Does anyone know a solid alternative to hostgator?

I love how the support just tells you to follow them on their forum where they just update it every half hour or hour to basically say "We have no fucking clue what happened. We have no fucking idea when we will fix it. Please leave us alone while we continue our circle jerk."

That's my translation at least.

Uptime Guarantee

Important: The Terms of Service, section 9b, has the full details and accurate information which is updated. This article only seeks to help explain the rules to which you agree.

If a shared or reseller server has more than 0.1% downtime during any month, you may receive one month of credit for that hosting plan.
Approval of the credit is at the discretion of HostGator, dependant upon our records.
Server maintenance does not count as downtime.
Just because your website does not work, this does not mean your server has downtime. As long as the server is available to deliver your content, then the guarantee is met. It is your responsibility to have working content.
To request a credit, please contact sales@hostgator.com with justification. All requests must be made in writing via email.
Uptime guarantees only apply to shared webhosting and reseller account owners. Dedicated servers are covered by a separate and unique network guarantee.

Notice how it says maintenance isn't covered. And they keep calling this a maintenance issue...

i dont know how this happens with all of the cloud computing concepts and layers and layers of redundancy.

I've been with Liquidweb / Storm on Demand for years now, have never had any down time (ever) for any running services.

Is it weird when hosts don't host their own sites, or is that standard practice? I've seen a few hosts advertise that they host their own homepages as a selling point.
