Well, I didn't want to make this post originally, I wanted to quietly cancel my Proxy51 subscription.

I spent a load of time this morning trying to find out how they were automatically billing me, and struggled. The invoiced company name differs to the company name used on the auto set-up, making it hard to link them when you have a fair bit of activity in your paypal account.

All in all I spent an hour or two trying to cancel my subscription, having to do a search through my inbox on timestamps in the end and matching them up to find which auto billing id Proxy51 were.

When I eventually managed to cancel my subscription, I realised all my scripts had stopped running, because Proxy51 automatically removed all my proxies from my account even though I've paid for the next 3 weeks. Now I'm stuck with none of my scripts running, wasting more time and money, waiting for my proxies to go online at other providers.

I spoke to a few people about the problems, and had a load of other people say they had a whole host of problems with Proxy51 too, proxies not working, proxies not getting delivered for 5 days after signing up, troubles finding payments like me to actually cancel in the first place, no reply from support unless you add the guy on Skype, etc etc.. So I made this post, hoping to get some answers and to change the way things are run over there.

Now I know it's only $35/mo, and that you shouldn't expect the world from 100 proxies at $35/mo (the providers I'm moving all my private proxies over too are a whole lot more expensive). I do expect to be able to easily cancel my subscription at any time though, and to not have the proxies I have already paid for the next month removed from my account. I.e. I expect to get the service I've paid for, whether I'm spending $5 or $5000.

I just ordered their small plan with them and all the proxies went to shit quickly. I thought it was whatever and got what I paid for (they are really cheap like you said). Not looking forward to potential billing problems with them :-/

I've got some with them as well that aren't working. flagged my acct for a scan and still didnt fix it. What gives, fuckers!

Noticed yesterday that the scan feature wasn't working. Shoot him an email or submit a ticket, Miles has always been great in terms of support.

Several people have said "don't bother emailing support, you won't get a reply" to me.

Granted it's been a good 6 months+ since I've had to contact him for support- He's always been on the ball. I submitted a ticket yesterday regarding the scanning issue (as I've got ~15 dead proxies atm) -- So we'll see.

you should always use Paypal to handle subscriptions I find that its much easier than emailing support. Cause with paypal you just gotta go into your recurring billings and cancel! but goodluck mate

That's what I tried to do. The problem is (I'm not sure if it's been done deliberately or not...) that the company names don't match up, and for pre-approved payments Paypal doesn't link you to the specific Pre-approved plan to allow you to easily cancel the plan from within the individual payment.

So e.g. in your payment list it shows transactions to xyz llc, then when you look in pre-approved payments, you see abc llc. The only way I could think to match the two was to find my original pre-approved agreement email that was sent from abc llc, and compare that with the timestamp from my first transaction to xyz llc.

It's no problem if you don't have many recurring subs/pre-approved payments.

I've been through that puzzle of trying to cancel my sub last year. I got an answer to my email couple a week or so later, only when pmed the owner here. I eventually got a refund for that unused month too.

I've got 15/100 that are dead too but wtf, it's $35/month, you get what you pay for. If gay webmasters would quit using them on scrapebox with way too high of a connections:proxy ratio, they'd work a lot better. Silly fucks should be scraping with public, posting with private/shared and we could all have nicer things.

It's not like there's any lack of publicly indexed proxy lists out there...

I had no problem with him canceling my account for me. The "truly unlimited bandwidth" is actually false advertising. He said I was using them too much. Not that I was getting them banned or anything. Just that I was using them too much. So he cancelled my subscription.

Of course, this is in the middle of a client project where I was using the proxies and he gave me no notice or anything. Even 24 hours would have been great to let me find something else to switch over instead of just getting hosed like that.
