In the shadows
So, I'm planning on starting a daily meditation routine just to get my head clear, because sometimes I feel I get so involved that I am not able to see the forest from the trees anymore. I think meditation will put me back on track and I've been keen on giving it a go for ages.

Do you meditate ? How often ? How the hell do you actually start meditating ?
Is there any specific technique you use ?

I personally recommend this to people who ask me about meditation (zazen in particular): Zen Mountain Monastery: Zen Meditation Instructions

Cliff notes:

- Sit comfortably with decent posture
- Breathe deeply and slowly
- Focus completely on your breath
- Mentally how many times you exhale (breathe in, breathe out *1*, breathe in, breath out *2*)
- When you get to 10, start back over at 1
- When you realize you aren't counting because you got distracted, start counting again at 1

Most people who I've talked to who have started this get pissed off when they realize they aren't as in control of their minds as they thought. Just keep coming back to your breathing and counting whenever you get distracted. It's like practice for focusing on something.

honestly its as simple as it sounds unless you want to try one of the fancier types, potentialeights post is a good summary, ive never tried counting though. it "clicked" for me when i started focusing on the gap between breaths
