Why don't you fucking pray to yourself to quit smoking, stupid bitch? I can't believe someone would do this shit. It took 4.3 billion years of evolution to get to your point, and you shit on your family line by fucking up your family's genes. Your kid will now pass on his/her defects on to his/her kids, etc... You ruined your family's health for generations. Such selfishness is so extreme it sends me into a fit of rage.

I'm tryna quit bro. Trying because I'm fucking drunk and a cig right now would be heaven. Also I have pretty much reduced all my smoking to only when I'm very tipsy. At my peak I was smoking about 6 cigs a day. Yukkk. I know exactly what it's like to be a smoker and it sucks hard. Fuck, I wish I never put that first one on the tip of my lip.

So many people on prescription drugs too (I just started some nasty ones). Tbh as a guy if I wanted to have a kid I'd stop smoking weed/drinking for a few months prior to trying to conceive. Just to be safe.

I did the stop smoking pill (wellbutrin, not chantix) 3x and it worked great 2 of the times. (first time they were out when I went for a refill and it fucked it up, eventually I just asked for all 3 months worth at once and it worked great other than the crazy side effects)

Nicotine is bullshit, fuck that garbage. I've never been addicted to caffeine so I'm thankful about that.

I know exactly what it feels like to be addicted to cigs or other drugs. It's like a thirst, deep in your head that can only be quenched in one way. I feel sorry for anyone who has to go through it, but it's not impossible to just stop it for a while. I'd do it if I was hurting my kid.

I ask mainly because children who are born after their mothers do drugs/drink usually have many health problems, and many require state or federal funded care. Do you think there should be procedures in place to help protect these babies before they're born? I know that a hospital can hold someone for psychiatric reasons if they are believed to be a danger to others or themselves. Do you think drug addicted pregnant women fall in this category?

To be honest, I'm not really sure. On the one hand that kind of makes sense, but on the other, if a person isn't willing to change their behavior to help their child, what will make them be good parents after the kid is born. 2nd hand smoke is just as dangerous and raising a kid in that environment or a drug addict's home would more or less have the same result. I think the best measure would be prevention. In that case, legalize drugs like they did in portugal and a few other european countries and have educational programs that help people manage their addictions. You not only lower the cost to the nation by getting rid of the unjust war on drugs, but you lower the total number of addicts.
