has anyone tried bates method? they say it can improve your eyesight naturally. i wonder whether anyone has successfully cured their myopia.

I've tried some of it. I even bought a DVD a few years ago from a guy that was legally blind and healed his eyes from doing a mixture of exercises from the Bates method + Yoga.

I personally think that it works if you do it right. Never force anything. Your eyes are not like your muscles and cannot really tolerate that much pain.

I like palming. Although I don't do it nearly as much as I should. I think everyone should do it on a daily basis. You can really feel the difference when you open your eyes after palming for a couple minutes. Everything seems crisp and clear. Like you're seeing in HD lol... when you touch your eye ball you also feel like it's more flexible and less "swollen"...

I do believe that improving oxygenated blood flow to the eyes helps them heal and prevents degeneration... so to make palming even better I add slow breathing exercises where I focus on blood flow around my eyes.

I'm a big believer that disease is caused by energy blockage (Stagnant Qi)... when energy (read bloodflow + oxygen) flows all over your body, you're essentially healing yourself. Again this is my own belief and I have no proof to back it up, but it seems to have worked for millions of people.

So in addition to not being able to control your liquor and living in subsidized housing with prostitutes, you believe in fairly tales of medical cures.

1) i don't live in subsidized housing; i live in an apartment.
2) i don't live with prostitutes; they are just standing in front of the apartment
3) i don't believe in fairy tales; that's why i am asking.

diet also plays key role in good eye sigt.have leafy vegetables often ,it improves eye sight and have fish in your diet.sit far away from television and pc.work always in light not dark place.they are also one of the reason for bad eye sight

Reducing the frequency of masturbation is said to slow the degradation of vision.

The real secret to improving your eyesight.

When I was 19, about 5 years after getting my first glasses, an eye doctor who was a friend of my dad's gave me a pair of Bates-inspired glasses that hurt like HELL to look through... And everything was very blurry still when you did so.

He told me that he knows its' uncomfortable, but if I wear them for 30 minutes every day, my eyesight will progress to the point where I don't need glasses again in a year or maybe faster.

I honestly tried for 3 or so days. I couldn't take it any longer, it was PAINFUL. My eyes are hurting right now just thinking about it. It also made me unable to move during that time, I was basically blind. So I threw them out with prejudice and told dad to keep his weird friend away from me.

The funny thing though, my next prescription was a SMALLER number, not larger. Just that one time... All the rest have gotten a smidge larger each time ever since.

There may be something to it; but the medicine is too painful.

Can't you just close your eyes and get the same effect? Aren't you just resting the eyes by not looking at anything?

^not really, for 2 reasons:

1) A certain amount of light still goes through your eyelids when your eyes are closed, so even though you think it's pitch-black, your eyes are still receiving a small percentage of the ambient light. When you palm you are closing your eyes + covering them with your palms (double layer of protection), so your eyes can rest better since it's total darkness.

2) Your palms will have a "warming effect" on your eyes and that improves blood flow all around your eyes. More fresh oxygenated blood = rejuvenation.

Wouldn't this work the same as palming before sleep?

moon gazing > sun gazing

actually both techniques have been practiced for thousands of years by yogis.

but yeah I read moon gazing is less dangerous and provides the same benefits.

Don't know if sun gazing exercise is the same as sunning exercise, but i am doing sunning exercise. Its really relaxing and feels good for the eyes. You don't stare at the sun but you close your eyes while facing the sun and then move your head from left to right. It activates the macula and helps you focus.

This thread has motivated me to try to correct my vision. I knew about the bates method and bought a book on it about 3 years but kept putting it off. Started exercises just 1 week ago. I'm -3.25 and -3.75 myopia, and have managed to go without glasses for a week now (except when i drive). I use pinhole glasses for computer work or if its gets too blurry watching tv (such as watching the table tennis ball of the olympics lol).

After not using glasses for a week, i realise how reliant i was on it, and how relaxing it is to do without them. I do feel more comfortable without glasses and have noticed my vision improved already though i have not done a thorough test.

here are the exercises I am doing:

sunning exercise - 10 mins
palming exercise - 10 mins and mini palms throughout the day
far distance viewing - 10 mins
shifting exercise - 6 mins
eye rotation exercise

I do these when i take a 10 min break every 50 minutes from the computer. Its also good to look into the distance every 10 minutes from the computer screen for around 10-15 seconds to stop eye strain. Found this brilliant free app for Mac that will helps tremendously Mac App Store - Time Out Free
