Hi, does anybody know why (it seems) literally at least 80% of companies and individuals who offer SEO services are Indian? I mean do a Google search for SEO company or anything related and almost all of them are Indian. I find it interesting because India has a relitavely low cost of living but SEO is quite an expensive service so I imagine that these Indian SEO guys who do well must be brutal gangsters, since there's so much competition.

Can any Indian SEO specialist tell me what the deal is? Is it just a consequence of living in a country with cheap labor (so you can pay people to link build and article write for cheap)? I'd really like to hear some stories about the "SEO scene" in India... Is it considered a dream job over there? I'm not being racist or anything, it is just undeniable that most SEO companies are run by people from India - even if they're based in US/Canada/UK they always seem to be Indian.

Please advise.

Because they can cater to Americans in an attempt to make American wages so that they can make it rain rupees

It's probably better than growing some fucked up Monsanto crops

zzz. I'm asking to hear some stories from people involved in SEO in India, not that bullshit. It's not the same as manufacturing because to manufacture you need a factory. To SEO all you need is a computer. So the competition must be brutal, and I'd like to hear what goes on. Do people get kidnapped for being SEO experts and forced to work for SEO cartels?

No it's the economy.

India has a lot of native English speakers. Indian culture places a high premium on education and sees technology as the way forward. They are generally fairly intelligent compared to the rest of the world. Yes, even America.

So SEO is a natural fit for these features of the Indian workforce.

Because all you need is an Internet connection, a PayPal account and a "sales script" you can copy-paste multiple times a day.

If I am not wrong, there are a billion Indians, and you are talking about a few hundred on here who are peddling this shit..

Its not the economy neither is it any fucked up reason most of you are getting at.

It's like this.

While the cost of labor in India is cheap, collectively it is higher. What takes an American 8 hours to do, takes an Indian 5 hours to complete. This results in companies needing to overstock their payroll to make ends meet.

Most Indians are not lazy. Its just that the country has a lot of days off. Looking at a calendar year, India has the most amount of public, national and local holidays in a year.

Mumbai, the commercial capital of the country, believe it or not, works only 168 days a year. Look at the break up

365 Days a Year
Remove Saturday and Sunday Weekends 365 - 106 = 259
Remove 30 Annual Offs 259 - 30 = 229
Remove 10 Comp Offs a Year 229 - 10 = 219
Remove 27 National, Public and Local Holidays, 219 - 27 = 192
30% Of Indian companies Leave work 1 hour early every week. = 190 Days
Lunch break is for one hour everyday = 190 - 15 Days = 175 Days
Tea Break is for 30 mins everyday 175 - 7 Days = 168 Days
Not every Indian works hard for 168 days in a year.

Meanwhile in Europe and America

There are 365 days this year.

There are 52 weeks per year in which you already have 2 days off per week, leaving 261 days available for work.

Since you spend 16 hours each day away from work, you have used up 170 days, leaving only 91 days available.

You spend 30 minutes each day on coffee break. That accounts for 23 days each year, leaving only 68 days available.

With a one hour lunch period each day, you have used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for work.

You normally spend 2 days per year on sick leave. This leaves you only 20 days available for work.

We are off for 5 holidays per year, so your available working time is down to 15 days.

We generously give you 14 days vacation per year which leaves only one day available for work and I'll be damned if you're going to take that day off!

You can have 20-25 employees in desi countries (India, Pakisthan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka) for the cost of having 1 employee in the USA (same skill level except English)

I have some full time "SEO employees" in one of these countries and I pay $90-$100/month per employee for spinning articles, posting links on websites, etc....lol
Maintenance cost (Space, computer, Internet, etc all together will be just another $70-$90 per employee)
