Holy fuck, you guys are all in a tizzy about Penguin. Let me reiterate a couple of things for you:

  • Google Owes You Nothing
  • You're probably a piece of shit.
  • Stop pissing and moaning and fix it.
  • If you were better this wouldn't have happened to you.
  • If you don't have burner sites you're an idiot.
  • I'm glad G is hammering asses. Makes my life better.
  • Why aren't you diversified?
  • Why aren't you building your list?
This is SEO, it's not for the faint of heart.

If you think for one fucking second an algorithm gives even one single shit or fuck about you, you're a real fucking asshole.

Here's one from my portfolio this week:

My, aren't you a ray of sunshine tonight?

What's the matter, no kittens to kick?

I like your style.

Untrue. If we follow whitehat methods and Google's Quality Guidelines, which they say will improve our visibility in search, we deserve improved rankings. If not, and especially if blackhat sites can still spam their way in front of whitehat sites, Google has a moral and legal obligation to make good on their promise to improve whitehats' visibility in search, otherwise there is no motivation for webmasters to do things "Google's way."

Correct, agreed..

The site I showed was a burner site. Now I have a link profile that was caught by penguin, and 20 others that were not. =)

LOL AT U UNDERSTANDING THE LAW AS IT RELATES TO GOOGLES. Let me clarify this for you. If you come to my house, and ask me which way is up, and I take a shit on the rug, that's totally cool. If you ask me what color is the sky, and then I yell DERP at you, it's totally cool. Google doesn't give a fuck about your visibility, or your rankings, or whitehat visibility. They care only about giving the user a good experience, whatever THEY determine that to mean. Don't like it? Build a better search engine.

Damn, I really should get into SEO. Instead of playing guitar, getting laid, going for a hike, smoking a J or reading some Bukowski while watching my PPC monies roll in, I could be endlessly slaving away, trying to fix my sites with no guaranteed result. And all the while feeling like a dirty unwashed asshole for having the nerve to curse Google under my breath. Thank you EnigmaBomb, for showing me the error of my ways.

Nope.

There is neither a moral nor a legal obligation for google to do anything like that.

It is their databases (index) and their algorithms showing you the results on their site.

They can do what the fuck ever they want with their site, as it is their property as a private company.

As a company, the only obligation they have is to make profit for their shareholders.

^^^ This. Google's users will dictate to G what they want. G can choose to listen or not, but there will be others waiting if they don't. Just ask Blackberry about how that works.

Sorry for the off topic but what rank tracking software are you using?

I've seen it in a few other threads but I still haven't found it!

Really? A moral and legal obligation? Really? Are you an idiot or a liberal?
