I am not sure if this post will provide me with anything but a mechanism for venting, still... I wanna fuckin VENT!

THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS!!!
Bought my gf a laptop. Works fine for 3 months (just enough to expire warranty and return fuckin policy). Fuckin thing ran out of battery and crashed. I plug the powesupply back in and restart. Next thing i know its booting Media Direct and there is no trace of any fuckin OS installed on that piece of shit! I finally manage to boot the fucker in CMD and guess what...? - NO FUCKING FILES AT ALL!!! As if my entire HDD got wiped!!! Fuckin support cant help me - after two hours of running all types of diagnostics they come up with the most brilliant solution of all time - use third party services to replicate your HDD and reinstall! WTF?!?!?! THANKS MOFOS! ... and wait!!! I saved the best for last! - they fuckin CHARGED ME 40 bucks for this awesome piece of information!!!!! Can you fuckin believe it?!?! 40 fuckin bucks to tell me i need to go pay some other dude to help me with the problem?!?!?! I love it!

Am trying to get in touch with somebody who is willing to help = anyone got a fuckin customer service contact info - the one thats based in an english speaking country?!

Ok dude listen,

They do not help in back up of any sort of data.
If you do not care about th data then ... Use PC RESTORE . ( Ctrl + F11 ) and get your laptop's life back to normal.

Also remember this : Dell ships 3 months of FREE Subscription of Antivirus from Mcafee.. You need to purchase the further subscription from Mcafee and keep it safe.

Actually, that wont work i am afraid... The thing is - there is NO OS there anymore...aint like i reformated anything either...I am totally down for sacrificing a week or so of data its just that i cannot even start windows. Awesome isnt it...:error:

i do lots of data recovery for clients. your data is most likely fine. pull out the drive, hook it up via usb to an xp computer. find this piece of software: r-studio ntfs, have it scan the entire laptop drive, and it'll find your missing data (assuming u didn't already overwrite it with new data). don't use it to restore the os, but use it to get your files back.

Wait!.... i got everything apart from the "pull out the drive" ... I dont do much tech, especially on laptops, so this might sound stupid. This is a native laptop HDD.. how do i pull it out? You mean take apart the fuckin machine???

on most newer laptops you can usually pull the hard drive right out of the bottom, just a few screws.. should be easy to recover any data if you can do what he said and get that hdd connected to a working machine. once you pull any data you need i'd format it and do a clean install

Why am I not amazed or shocked? Oh yes, because one of Dell's EX-Senior Tech Support guys works at my company now (though he is now in Media Production Department). You should be glad that atleast you were told a solution.

BTW talking of co-incidences, my Dell's DVD Writer went ka-put exactly 7 days after my warranty expired. :-/
