I have quite some traffic for targeted niches (auto insurance, education, credit report, etc...)

Usually I'm just redirecting those clicks to affiliate offers, but recently I thought, why not plant a cookie in-between to re-target the users?

My question is, how do I place a re-targeting cookie? Like, do I need to decide for a certain network (e.g. SiteScout) or are there services that let me use cookies that are set on my own domain(s)?

The re-targeting cookie code is provided by the network (which you then implement onto your websites). After all it's their advertising platform that will be tracking your visitors and retargeting them with your Ads. So find a re-targeting network that has your targeted audience as their demo and sign up.

The re-targeting cookie code only works for the network which you are a part of and only on the domains they are displaying ads on.

Example, if Best Buy is on XYZ network. And you sign up for ABC re-targeting network, your ads will not display on XYZ network sites, in this case Best Buy. You would have to sign up for XYZ network in order for your re-targeting ads to display on that network (This example doesn't take into considerations if ABC and XYZ network are pooling their display networks together, I am assuming they are strictly competitors).

I welcome you for giving information which will be useful to others....!
