I need to cloak my LP from the Owner of a SITE where I have just negotiated a Buy. The person is from a Country where legal contracts don't mean shit,so I need to cloak when he Clicks.
I don't want him to see my LP or even the offer.
He is an SEO guy with lots of "ORGANIC" inventory, and I have seen him direct link to a few Affiliate offers.. And even on this site.. But one of his Good Spot is an Adsense Block and I am paying him a better eCPM for that spot. But he would try to link to my offer if he sees it.. I have already tested my offer on his site...

I am yet to send him my banner code and but I need to redirect his clicks to another target.

My question would have been how do you go about collecting his IPs.

I already have one IP from where he send me mails.. But he might be checking out from several IPs..

Don't you cloak your LPs when you do private Buys...
PS: This is a significant buy..

If he's from a non-us country (which by your description it sounds like he is), and this buy is for a us offer, you need to get him to click your redirect link somehow, which points to an offer that is only seen by us IP's.

Perhaps you should send him a link to some random (but plausible) offer, where you redirect through your link and collect his IP? Kinda like "hey, is this OK to promote [link]?"

If he's that type of a guy, be prepared for him to end up ripping you off in one way or another eventually... whether it's swiping the offer, altering stats, etc. Some people are just that way and you have to decide whether it's worth doing business with them. If the upside is good enough, go ahead and cloak and make as much as you can while it lasts -- just expect that it won't be long. Make sure whatever you're cloaking to is believable enough not to make him suspicious. Do what you can to protect yourself and hopefully he ends up being trustworthy after all.

Use your own ad server if at all possible and get him to agree to bill off your stats.

FUCK YOU MAN.AND MILLION THANKS. WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T I THINK ABOUT IT.........

This is a US only offer of course... :) :)

And of course he will only see those International Zwinky ads

Thanks BROS..

I am paying by the month so I am good for all the months he is willing to accept payment..And i have seen the real stat.. and this is a fucking laser targeted traffic. Number 1 Google ranking for my KWs. but yeah I am thinking it will be shortlived once he knows what I am promoting... anyway what I am promoting is also starting to get the FLAK here.. so I hope it will last for 5-6 months..

Thanks to Goodcat, I was earlier going to redirect the LP but now I will even swap the banner based on GEOIP.. WOOOOT

And a very very convincing International Offer..

He did ask for my landing page so I am working on that..

Thread maybe closed :)

How to get his ip ->

Send him an email with images in it, see which ip loads the images. Think email signature.

Have him test your "ad code" but make it not work right away, pull the ip from there also.

if he's in another country what *I* would do is georedirect that country to a SHITTY but realistic looking offer. That is- if you're running berries, drop him to some bullshit 11 page framed POS that still see advertising on google selling a physical product from a crappy storefront.

Make it closely believable yet not available anywhere. (ie- not another offer). I'd run this through a domain that is something like bdctrkr.com - register this, throw up a splash page noting that you're The "Big Dick Crew Private Network" an elite private affiliate network (only letting in 8 affiliates currently) with something that looks like directtrack's or other's sign up form which just mails the info to you via a form submit and drops a "thank you- we'll be in contact shortly if we approve your application" to him - thus further completing the believability package.

hopefully he then a) snoops, b) sees the 'network' redirect, c) tracks down your "network" and d) looks for the 'offer' elsewhere OR applies AND stops snooping.

ok so we all assume this guy not being savy enough to double check op's url chain(s) with a us based proxy, right?

who in this room is not using proxies everyday whether directly or not (ad spy services) and still doing im as a profession?

PS: also why do u guys think that he must be on a static ip(s) 24/7? my xdsl pulls a unique ip from a huge pool each time i reconnect my router.

maybe a robust solution would have sth to do with http headers, referrer spoofing/filtering etc, which i dont know s.. about.

He eventually might see some "this offer is not available outside the U.S." page and use some U.S. proxy to access it then.. Not a big deal to visit hidemyass.com and type some URL there.
I definitely would write a little PHP script and block his whole country and neighbouring country and redirect him to something that looks like shit but really could be your actual ad!

If you are paranoid:
send him first any other link from the same domain, so you can additionally place some cookie or flash cookie on his computer.
then cloak by the cookie as well

His #1 rankings will likely not last 5 to 6 months anyway... so milk it before it dries up.

My question would have been how do you go about collecting his IPs.

If you have been in communication via email, you may already have it, check email headers.

If you plan to block his IP address, you are assuming he has a static IP address (it won't just change in a week). Unfortunately for you, even if his IP is static, if he finds out you're trying to keep it from him, he can easily get past any IP address blocking by simply using a proxy.

I once ran into a similar dilemma with someone who had a dynamic IP address. I ended up solving the problem by redirecting all IP ranges for his city elsewhere.
