In all seriousness, the best way to find a niche is to focus on behavioral research and market research and not simply keyword research.
As an example, start with root keywords.
Looking for motivated buyers? Type in the words: must, need, fast, now for instance...

See what people really want and want NOW!

Very few people (esp. n00bs) know how to do this. If I mentioned 1 word to you "must" what is the state of mind of someone who uses this word? That is called behavioral research....

The same thing with the word "now". If I mentioned one word to you "now" what is the state of mind of someone who uses that word to search? They want whatever they want and they want it "now"....

The same thing with quality words like "best", "old", "used", etc...

Most people do keyword and research by trying to get the engines to tell them what they want to hear vs. the other way around.....

Start with one root word that is a noun or an adjective. A good resource is aaron wall's list of keyword modifiers to get your mind thinking. Always try to start with at leat 1 root word.

Try the different parts of speech as well not just nouns or adjectives. Try words like "where" or "which" you'll find out information about what people are looking for or what they are trying to compare. These are often high value/low competition keywors with HIGH KEI and low R/S that the average person isn't thinking out of the box enough to find.....

Yes, of course, it is very difficult to find a niche that is very profitable. This is one of those factors that decides your success with affiliate business.

this made clicking on this bullshit thread worthwhile, thank you

glad some people found it useful. other behavioral words that are useful are:
-free shipping
-near
-nearby
-compare
-review
-for dummies (believe it or not, people don't know something and they will type in "find love for dummies" or "fix my car for dumies", lol seriously)
-articles
-articles on (people are looking for info and they type in "articles on how to find a job" or "articles on how to fix my car")
-association (this is what you call "expert verbiage" or a "statistically improbable" phrase...people are looking for a group of like minded people "association of mechanic", "association of bankers") - this word is a great way to get in front of a very targeted group of people on the cheap.
-wholesale - another very targetted word used by business-to-business buyers, "wholesale flour", "wholesale car parts"

Now if you really want to get into it, look online for work on Maslow where he basically breaks down people's needs.

Keep in mind people are not buying products or services they are buying END RESULTS!!

The person who signs up via cpa for the dating offer is doing that because they feel
"unfulfilled" or "lonely", because they want "love".

HAVE YOU EVER TYPED THOSE WORDS INTO THE SEARCH ENGINES, THE ADWORD TOOL?!

You will be amazed....

They same thing for words like "safe" or "safety", "security"

These are end results. Find out the END RESULTS of what people are looking for and you will be doing what 99% of people out there marketing will never even think to do....

Remember to try not just nouns and adjectives but, adverb, pronouns, prepositions, etc.

The average person's vocabulary only consists of about 10,000 words. This is good for us. Because it means that there are really only a few words that people use over and over again in any given niche to find what they need....

Get to know those words like you would your favorite banker and you will be surprised...

damn I can't be giving away all my secrets..haha
Just a point on what I mean on behavioral research. Take the word for instance
car:
1) I type car into adwords
2) I click on filter and type in "cars"
3) I click "negative" under match type. Why is this important? Because this will give you an insight to to co-occurrence. In other words you'll get some understanding of what kind of words are being use "along side" your main keyword phrase. You will also see modifiers. Now let me further explain. For cars, here are some of the words:

-hire (an adjective or a verb. people are looking to "do" something with cars or are looking for a type of car)
-rental (an adjective, people are looking for a certain kind of car)

-rent (a verb, i.e. an action, what people are looking to do)
-luxury (a descriptive word, an adjective, a certain kind of car. note, if I put all the adjectives together and checked out their cpc, I could see which descriptive words meant more to the market..."luxury" is worth more than "cheap")
-cheap
-used
-carhire
-companies
-hertz (a brand name)
-insurance (a noun, also can be an adjective, an adjacent market term. by market I mean there are at least 10m competing pages)
-rent a (another great descriptive term. try typing in "rent a" to see what people want to rent. Also try "rent an". you want to us "a" and "an" because with "a" you'll find topics that start with a consonant and with "an" vowels" - ex. "rent an airplane" "rent a trailer"
-pictures
-cheapest
-sale
-rentals
-dealer
-dealership
-dealers
-rental cars
-parts
-free
-ireland (place. noun. people are doing geography/location related searches)
-europe (same)
-dublin (same...also if this is a us search it also says people are looking at cars abroad)
-portugal
-spain
-malaga
-italy
-airport
-cheap rental
-water

The gist of what I was saying is that you don't just want to see "what" people are searching for you want to "see + understand" "why" they are searching for it...

Hope it help.... (ps, typed fast excuse any typos)

pps
also try question words to see what people what answers to:
-who
-what
-when
-where
-how
-why
-which

Also, make sure to use your "brain filter" as sometimes you'll get things that pop up such as tv shows, movies, lyrics, etc. this is where you have to put your thinking cap on...

Just try typing in 'end goal' what people really want. You'll be amazed time and time again people use the engines like they are talking to an oracle. try typing in the word "security" or "love" or "safety" people are looking for products, services, etc. to get these end goals
