Wondering what kind of local lead-gen programs there?

Eg there is Done Right!, ServiceMagic, ABC Leads, and Contractors.com do the home & garden area. Any other local lead gen opportunities? (ignoring stuff like payday, mortgage, etc)

2 ways that worked for me in the past were:

1. Create a lead purchasing site for local businesses to register for leads, and then be notified of new leads they can purchase. You have to develop a LOT (say two sites for each niche) that you want to sell leads for. This one works well in smaller towns/regions where there's a lot of competition in a niche. You have to do the advertising yourself and put a lot of work into it at first. This one is a constant workload. I spend 4 months developing/promoting/linking before I had the product to the point it was profitable.

2. Private label websites for local businesses. We took a struggling auto dealership here in town and created 2 new sites for them, one focusing on used cars and one focusing on bad credit car loans. They paid for the advertising, we did the site and fed the leads to their CRM automatically. This one was really profitable as they fronted the advertising money and we got a retainer.

Just some ideas.

I guess I should re-address.

I realize that there are many ways to do it on a 1 on 1 basis, but I am talking about generalized solutions and retailers who have it already setup.

For example:

Hotels - well, pretty much all have their own specific affiliate program
Furniture - RoomsToGo - Furniture Retailer - Home & Contemporary Online Furniture Shopping :: Rooms To Go :
B2B
Contractors - ServiceMagic, ReliableRemodeler

Any others? [minus payday, auto financing, etc]

More examples:
Car Rental: Budget, Dollar rent a car
TV: DirectTV
Phone Service: Lingo, Vonage
Florists: FloraSystems, Florist.com, 1-800-Flowers (these ones are kind of sketchy because they appear local but are usually shipped)

Perhaps build a master list for the 100k/200k threads?
